The Timewalk

This attraction tells the fascinating story of the town as seen through the eyes of Ms. Paws the brewery cat and her eight feline ancestors. As the hands of the magic clock whirl backwards, prepare to take an unforgettable trip through nineteen life-like scenes, which recreate the sights, sounds and smells of 600 years of local history.

  • 1348 - Bring out your dead! Stand face to face with the victims of the Black Death as the deadly plague sweeps through Weymouth.
  • 1588 - Climb aboard the smouldering Spanish Galleon, The San Salvadore, and join Shifty and the locals for some lively looting.
  • 1666 - Meet on AboutBritain.com">London courtier pussycat, Periwinkle Lint, as his architect master Sir Christopher Wren commissions 50,000 tons of Portland Stone for the building of St. Paul's Cathedral.
  • 1793 - Hear the 'owler' hooting down the shore, giving the all-clear for lucrative contraband to be unloaded under the watchful eye of look-out cat Dartington O'Keefe.
  • 1805 - Enjoy the splendour of a Georgian Ballroom and join the cheering crowds on the sea front as Weymouth's first tourist attraction' takes to the water.

    Brewery Days

    Set amongst the listed fermenting and conditioning vessels of the original Victorian brewhouse, this attraction explores Hope Square's brewing heritage from 1821 through to the present day.
  • Interactive Family Gallery, meet the Brewin' Bunch and take a fun look at the process of brewing beer!
  • Audio-visual presentation featuring the story of the once thriving brewery.
  • Visit the Quay Brewery and Victorian-style Drum & Dancer Tastings Bar. Witness the historical revival of one of the town's oldest traditions and sample one of the award-winning real ales once again brewed on site!

    Discovery Interactive Science Centre

    Enjoy a fun "hands on" approach to science at the Discovery Interactive Science Centre, with new exhibits added for 2009!

    New for this year, visitors can use a pneumatic tube transport system to send objects across the room, learn all about the science behind the MAGLEV train in Shanghai, and try the new Infinity Room!

    Favourites include the "Shadow wall" which freezes your shadow, and the "Face to Face" exhibit where two people can blend their faces together for really strange effects.

    With exhibits carefully designed to appeal to all ages, no-one is too old or too young to enjoy a visit to Discovery!

    Open All Year:
    Daily 9.30am to 5.30pm.

    Late nights:
    Monday to Friday during the school summer holidays. Last admission to the Timewalk and Discovery is 4.30pm.

    The complex (except the Excise House and Craft Workshops) is closed annually on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and during the last two weeks of January for routine maintenance. The Timewalk
    February half term to November:
    Open daily from from 10.00am to 4.30pm.
    It also opens on other dates to pre-booked groups only. Opening times of individual outlets and attractions may vary. Please call for details.
