There's something for all the family at Britains premier canal museum. Step aboard some of the boats from the world's largest floating collection of traditional canal craft and enter their cabins to discover how people lived and raised families in a home no larger than a hallway of a modern house. Tour the imposing Georgian and Victorian buildings full of fascinating exhibitions on the waterways, their industries and people. Visit the Pump House and Power Hall where steam, diesel and gas engines have been restored with some in daily operation. Experience domestic life from the 1848s to the 1950s in our four dock workers' cottages. Chat to our blacksmith and others practising traditional crafts, take a boat trip around the dock or on the canal or just relax by watching ocean-going ships pass by on the Manchester Ship Canal.
