Housed in the former Higgins and Sons Brewery, Bedford Museum is situated within the picturesque gardens of Bedford Castle, beside the Great Ouse Embankment. The collections reflect the human and natural history of Bedford and the surrounding area.

Unearth the secrets of Bedfordshire's past from prehistoric times to the foundation of Bedford as the market town we know today. Discover the dramatic story of the villainous Falkes de Breaute whose antics resulted in the siege of Bedford Castle in 1224. Revel in the splendour of the medieval tile pavement from Warden Abbey.

Reflect on the county's traditional industries including the internationally renowned Bedfordshire Lace and engineering companies and reminisce over your childhood as you enjoy the toys and games of yesteryear.

Explore the wonder of the natural world through habitat settings, meet the escapees from Woburn Wildlife Park and discover the rocks and fossils beneath our feet.
