Hesket House was built in 1780 and started life as "The Steam Packet Inn", the original hotel for the port at Fishers Cross, later named Port Carlisle, where such distinguished visitors as Woodrow Wilson has been a guest.

The Old Chapel and cottage has recently been sympathetically converted to provide excellent accommodation for overnight visitors. Located at the very end/start of the Hadrians Wall walk it is an ideal location for walkers.

Shore Gate House is located in the village of Bowness On Solway at the Western end of the Hadrian's Wall walk. The property was once a corn mill that dates back to 1684 and is within 100 meters of the start point of the walk.
