    First time visitors to Heron house, cannot help but be charmed by this attractive Georgian Town House, with its beautiful walled garden in the centre of the ancient village of Bampton.

    A quiet ambience prevails in the interior of the house, with an elegant Drawing room, beautifully furnished with fine antiques.

    The cosy dining room is perfect for a light supper at the end of the day, or a four course dinner, using fresh local produce and of course plenty of Clotted Cream, from the diary farm in the village.

    In the morning set yourself up for the day, with one of Fiona's scrumptious breakfasts cooked on the Aga.

    The effortlessly chic style continues upstairs, where you will sleep soundly in one of three spacious and perfectly decorated twin or double bedrooms, each with their own private or en-suite bathroom and where dedication to guests comfort is evident.

    Your hosts, Fiona, Daisy and Hebe (Working Cocker Spaniels) and Woodhouse the family's darling black Labrador (retired gun dog), offer the friendliest of welcomes.

    Fiona has been in the Interior Design business for years and has thoroughly enjoyed bringing what was a very tired house, back to life.
    Fiona is an accomplished cook and a keen gardener.

    When time allows, Fiona works one day a week for the National Trust at Knightshayes Court, as a volunteer in the ornamental garden.

    A visit to the gardens at Knightshayes, is a must for any enthusiastic gardener staying at Heron House.

    Bampton is set in the foothills of Exmoor Nation Park, 10 minutes from Dulverton, 30 minutes from both the South and North Devon Coasts, with their wonderful surfing beaches.

    Bampton is also uniquely located for visiting a number of National Trust houses and gardens in the West Country and is ideal for walking, cycling, riding, shooting and fishing in and around Exmoor.
