    Quality accommodation in former village school, located in quiet village only a few miles west of Ely.

    The village can be accessed from either the A10 or A142 and is convenient for Ely, Cambridge, Newmarket, the Fens, Thetford Forest and the Norfolk coast.

    The Old School is set in an acre of gardens and horse paddocks, with splendid views across the Fens onto Ely Cathedral.

    The three bedrooms are all on ground floor level and have recently been tastefully re-decorated; They are accessible for guests with impaired mobility. Single occupancy on request.

    Authentic continental breakfasts are our speciality, or we will serve a full English cooked breakfast, with your choice of quality ingredients; breakfast is prepared in the newly fitted, purpose built kitchen, next to the breakfast room with split-level residents' lounge.

    Residents are welcome to relax in the guest lounge and conservatory overlooking the garden in the afternoon, over a cup of tea or coffee and have access to a wide choice of books and information of local, equestrian, geographical and historical, as well as general interest.

    Guests are welcome by arrangement, to use the kitchen to store, prepare and heat their own food, or order in a take-way and use the breakfast room for dinner, should they not wish to go out for an evening meal.

    Car parking is available in the former school yard.

    Dogs very welcome, other pets by arrangement.

    Special rates for long-term stays of a week or over. Washing, Drying and Ironing Facilities. Wir sprechen Deutsch. Pounds and Euros accepted. Sorry, no credit cards.

    Directions
    By Car:

    Access to Coveney is from the A10 or the A142, approx. 2 miles/3 km from each road along small and winding country roads.
    From A142:
    The turn off to Coveney is between Witchford and Sutton.
    Drive carefully over the little bridge and follow the road into the village.
    Go straight ahead until you get to a T-junction with a turn-off to the right back to Ely.
    The Old School is straight ahead of you on the right with the entrance into the school yard on Main Street.

    From A10:
    The turn off to Coveney is on the A10 between the Ely roundabout and the Little Downham roundabout.
    The road is mainly single track with passing places.
    Follow the road until you get into the village slightly up a hill. On top there is a T-junction with The Old School on your right. Drive round the grassy triangle with the chestnut tree on your right, to get better access to the gate into the school yard.

    Please note that we are NOT The School House at 10 Main Street. You have to go through the school yard to get to our front door.
    Please close the gate behind you carefully, our dogs are usually running loose !

    By Rail:
    The nearest main railway station is Ely, with a good half-hourly to hourly service from London-Kings Cross on the King's Lynn line via Cambridge.
    There is a taxi rank at the station or transport can be arranged.

    By Air:
    The nearest airport is London-Stansted, about 50 miles/approx. 1hr drive away.
    There is a direct train service from Stansted to Ely, as well as car hire, or a taxi service can be arranged.

    By Boat:
    Boats can be moored at the marina in Ely.
    There is a taxi rank at the nearby railway station, or transport can be arranged.
