  • Wonderful rural views over Bodmin Moor.
  • Excellent thoughtful service.

  • The Stables at Welltown, is a beautifully converted and recently upgraded property, in the rural parish of Cardinham, on the edge of Bodmin Moor, with wonderful views from all rooms over open countryside.

We offer the best of both worlds; the charm of an old-fashioned country cottage and all the benefits of modern comforts.

We are open all year around and have recently been awarded 4* by the AA for our B&B.

The most important thing that we offer our guests is great service; we'll make sure that whether you're visiting for one night or a week, for business or for pleasure, you'll feel welcome and comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble!

A great variety of locally sourced ingredients go into our farmhouse breakfasts along with home made bread, preserves and yoghurt and our own free range eggs; if you have a particular favourite breakfast dish, don't hesitate to ask us and we'll do our very best to oblige.

You'll be treated to tea and home made cake on arrival and a Cornish cream tea is always available each afternoon on request.

A good variety of home-cooked evening meals are also available on request.

Our bedrooms are newly designed and decorated to a high standard; they are both double (one 4'6 and one 5')with en suite shower rooms, clock radio, TV, Freeview, video, hair dryer and tea and coffee making facilities provided.

There is a sitting room made available to all who stay with us.

We'll happily light the wood burner, so that our visitors have an open fire to sit in front of and there is also a DVD, TV, video, radio, CD and record player and a good variety of movies and music for guests to make use of.

In good weather our garden is a lovely tranquil place to relax in various sitting and eating areas.

Our location, on the edge of Bodmin Moor, is ideal for rambling/walking, bird watching, fishing and horse riding.

The Camel Trail, coastal paths and Saints Way, as well as the Eden Project and famous NT Houses and Gardens are within easy reach.

We are within 30 minutes of both North and South coast beaches and only 5 minutes from both the A30 to the North and A38 to the South.

We will happily provide transport to/from the railway station or airfield or indeed Newquay airport at a small extra charge.

Peace, quiet and the warmest of welcomes are guaranteed.

    Directions
From the A30 driving West from Exeter:
About 6 miles short of Bodmin on the A30, take a turning on the left (after Jamaica Inn, Colliford Lake and Temple) signed to Millpool, Mount, Cardinham etc.
Keep going straight on this road for 3 - 4 miles.
You'll go over 3 separate cattlegrids in the process - one when leaving the village of Millpool, the second beside a tumbledown cottage and the third just before the village of Mount.
Immediately after the third (10 metres after) turn right.
This is signposted (rather confusingly) to Bodmin.
Then take the second lane on the left signed to Venn, Tawna and Welltown.
After 200m the lane forks, take the right and we are the second house on the left, we're called The Stables at Welltown and have a yellow AA sign on the wall.
