@74 offers a bed and breakfast room in a safe, quiet, studious home environment.
Location
Come, rest, sleep and then have breakfast @74 in the centre of Cambridge:
Perfectly located for access to and from the railway station (train, bus, taxi), historic city centre, shopping malls, museums, universities, business parks and Addenbrooke's Hospital, as well as the M11 and Stansted Airport.
In addition, the room is in close proximity to numerous restaurants and shops.
Accommodation
As an interior designer, I am delighted to offer a well-designed spacious room with a contemporary, quietly sophisticated atmosphere; this second floor room has en-suite bathroom with shower, basin and WC.
The room has a comfortable double bed, a deep wardrobe (lit), with plenty of hangers and shelving, 2 bedside tables, a small writing table and seating.
There is plenty of soft lighting for relaxing and a task light for working; you have the use of a digital radio/ alarm clock and wireless Internet.
The room also offers tea and coffee making facilities, with a choice of 'proper' - or instant coffee and/or decaffeinated and a large selection of teas.
There is a hairdryer for your use; and ironing facilities upon request.
The American shutters in the bay window give you privacy at all times, whilst allowing natural daylight to stream in; there are black-out curtains for those who like it dark.
The room is most ideal for single academics, visiting scholars and business visitors as it offers a serene and private environment. ideal for study/ work; but you are equally welcome if you are a couple.
Breakfast
The house boasts a lovely city garden, where breakfast can be enjoyed during the spring and summer; otherwise, a substantial continental breakfast will be served in the privacy of your own room, consisting of a choice of the following:
Cereals, cheeses, cold meats, boiled eggs, fresh and dried fruit and yoghurt, bread and toast; fruit juices, 'proper' and decaffeinated coffee and many types of tea.
Special dietary requirements can be catered for upon request, but please give prior notice.
Parking
The 250 spaces NCP at the railway station (literally minutes walk) charges currently £ 6.50 during peak hours and £ 4.50 off peak/day.
The plentiful road parking is free between 5pm and 9am; during the day, close-by parking costs 60p/hour and is restricted to two hours.
"B&Bs are one of the glories of the British tourist industry...
the antidote to the claustrophobic uniformity of chain hotels".
The Times, 12 June 2008.
