  • Howard and Linda created this cottage-style B and B accommodation, as a haven for people who are looking for that perfect relaxing break, in a peaceful and restful environment, with quality private accommodation with an on-site coarse fishing pond.

    Overlooking the historic market town of Stanhope, in what was once a vast hunting ground belonging to the Prince Bishops of Durham, the B and B accommodation is beautifully located, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, with panoramic views across Weardale, away from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

    The accommodation is detached from the farm house and comprises:

    First floor - two double en-suite rooms (one room with four-poster bed).

    Ground floor - two double en-suite rooms and one twin en-suite room.
    The twin room, with its level access, wide doors, walk in shower with seat, specialist sanitary fittings and handrails, is suitable for guests who have restricted mobility.

    All rooms are en-suite, complete with TV, sofa or chairs and tea/coffee making facilities.
    Ground floor rooms are annexed to the breakfast room and connected by wheel chair friendly footpaths.

    Our quiet private, quality accommodation, provides the ideal base from which to explore Weardale, the Durham Dales, and the North East of England, including it's many walks and cycle routes.

    Often referred to as the capital of Weardale, the area possesses beautiful walks that take you through the areas strong industrial heritage, which stems from mining lead and quarrying limestone.

    The distinctive black marble quarried at nearby Frosterley, has been used throughout the world and some of the best examples can be seen in Durham Cathedral.

    Information on walks, cycle routes, and tourist attractions can be obtained from the Durham Dales Centre in Stanhope, the region's Tourist Information Centre.

    A comprehensive "where to eat guide" is provided in the rooms.

    Ample car parking for guests, with disabled parking.

    Secure covered area, workshop and washing facilities for bicycles

    Seasons Open: Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter.

    Room Rates per room per night, inclusive of continental breakfast:

    Double/twin room: £62.00 - £67.00.
    Double room with four poster bed: £67.00 - £72.00.

    A non-refundable £20.00 deposit on booking is required, per room per night, with the balance due upon arrival.


    Room availability is from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m.
    No children under 14 yrs.

    In 2007, the B&B accommodation was awarded a commendation for access from Durham County Council in the Small and Medium Enterprises Category. Nominated by Anne Cowie, of the Wear Valley Disability Access Forum Ltd, who commented " The owners have provided the only accessible bed & breakfast accessible accommodation not only in Weardale but the whole of the Wear Valley."


    Directions
    Take the A689 through Wolsingham and Frosterley to Stanhope: Upon entering Stanhope at the Texaco garage, proceed on the main street (A689) for one mile.
    Just past Stanhope Old Hall, is a junction signed B6278 - Barnard Castle, Eggleston.
    Opposite this junction, there is a single track 'no through road'. Turn right there and proceed for 0.75 mile and Belle Vue Farm is the first entrance on the left.
