This newly restored barn at Home Farm provides privacy and tranquillity in the heart of the picturesque village of Sudborough. A real home from home, the whole building to yourself.
Completely restored and redecorated to a very high standard, the accommodation includes an entrance hall leading to a double bedroom, shower room with wood panelling, breakfast room with vaulted ceiling and stable door, with facilities for making tea, and coffee, etc. leading up to a spacious lounge with sofa-bed, additional single bed, television and DVD player.
Adjoining the barn is a lockable storage room, ideal for housing bikes, motorbikes and fishing equipment. There is a private parking area behind gates. The barn overlooks the large landscaped garden with an ornamental fish pond and natural well, backing onto a field, guests can enjoy full use of the seating areas in the garden, although young children would need to be strictly supervised, because of the pond and well.
The accommodation includes a self-service continental breakfast, and complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits.
Please note that the barn does not have wheelchair access, since it is split level.
Sudborough is only just over 3 miles from the A14 providing easy access to the A45, M1, M6 and A1M. Just off the A6116 road to Corby, which is 7 miles away, and 11 miles from Kettering. The train from London, St. Pancras runs every half hour and takes 52 minutes to arrive at the nearest station of Wellingborough, and 27 minutes from Luton Airport. The airports at Birmingham, Stansted, Luton and East Midlands are all about an hours drive away.
Sudborough was originally part of land owned by the Abbey of Westminster set within Rockingham Forest. The All Saints Church was founded in the 900s, with the present building being based on the remains of a 12th Century building.
The Vane Arms Pub, just 300 yards from Home Farm, serves excellent food, and there are several other good restaurants within a 2 mile radius. The Old Rectory Gardens, a magnificent Plantsman's 2 acre garden, are just opposite. Open at certain times between April and September and at Easter. There is also an equestrian centre in the village.
The local town of Thrapston, just 3 miles away, provides all the usual amenities, a new sports centre, the Tasty Bite Victorian Tea Shoppe, where you can enjoy a taste of the past. Fermyn Woods Country Park, forming part of the ancient woodland of Rockingham Forest, and Lyveden New Bield, one of England's most important Elizabethan gardens and banqueting lodge, about 2 and 4 miles respectively provide stunning destinations. Sudborough is just 8 miles from the historic town of Oundle, 9 miles from Rockingham Speedway and 24 miles south of Peterborough. There is an abundance of local fishing and golf, a local gliding club and boating at Thrapston Lake.
