Penygraig canol is set in the south western corner of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The property has panoramic views of the mountains and is the haunt of the local red kites. It is ideally placed for those wishing to pursue outdoor activities including mountain biking, walking, para and hang gliding, geology, caving, birdwatching etc.
Penygraig canol has a homely, informal atmosphere. The guest lounge is a welcome relaxation spot for chatting, reading or watching TV. Guests are also welcome to sit around the pool area, wander around the gardens, use the play facilities or explore the 6 acres of land. The fields house squirrels, foxes and badgers as well as a wealth of other bird and animal life. Three streams run through the property to a waterfall on the lower boundary.
Nearby, there are many wonderful places to visit such as
The waterfalls walks at Glyn Neath, Ystrafelte and Aberdulais.
The National Botanic Gardens of Wales or Aberglasny gardens.
Dan Y Ogof National Showcaves.
Carreg Cennen Castle - plus many more.
We are also ideally situated for the cities of Swansea and Cardiff, market towns of Carmarthen, Llandovery and Brecon.
Best of all we are just 2 minutes from open access mountainside with amazing views down to the Gower penninsula or across to the Teifi valley and mid Wales. The geological park encompasses the whole of the western side of the National Park. One of the first geological parks to be set up in Europe it has dramatic escarpments and ridges, limestone pavements, millstone grit and red sandstone rocks. The whole area is riddled with caves, divided by streams cascading down the hillsides in a series of waterfalls and inhabited by wild mountain ponies. There are many historic sites from ancient castles to WW11 crash sites, iron and bronze age forts to the more recent industrial landscapes such as coal mines.
So, whether you enjoy activities, relaxing in the countryside or around the pool, or prefer to shop 'til you drop, there are a wealth of fascinating places to choose from.
Guests receive a warm welcome, a welcome drink and home-made cakes. Fresh cakes, biscuits, drinks and fruit are always available.
Books, magazines, videos, DVD's, toys and games + tourist information
are always available to enhance your stay.
We hope you will join us and enjoy the welcome of Wales
