Windy Ridge sits in a beautiful, private garden with panoramic views of Whitstable and the sea. There is easy access to the Thanet Way and the M2. Whitstable is only five minutes drive by car; Canterbury is just 15 minutes away.

Windy Ridge is a quirky place of real character. Over two hundred years ago the original house was two farm cottages. It was extensively rebuilt during the 1960s; the builder, who still lives locally, used reclaimed timber and stone to extend the house, adding many idiosyncratic and interesting features. The front door was reclaimed from Maidstone Town Hall and it is said that at least one of the gargoyles on the front wall comes from Canterbury Cathedral.

Another tale has it that the builder responsible for the rebuilding and extension work is the uncle of Syd Barrett, one of the original members of Pink Floyd, and that in the 1970s Windy Ridge witnessed the rock and roll lifestyle that is reputedly associated with rock musicians. Whatever its history, we hope that you will enjoy Windy Ridge as it is today.

Gastronomes will enjoy the renowned local restaurants. Wraik Hill Country Park and South Swale Nature Reserve are close by making this an ideal location for walkers, cyclists and birdwatchers.

Fabulous fresh breakfasts are served in the dining room where Kentish produce is used including eggs, jam, and marmalade all from local producers. Evening meals may be available upon request. Special diets can be accommodated.

We hold a residential license for the sale of alcohol and the house is an approved premise for weddings, baby welcoming and renewal of vows.

'Specials' such as Valentine's Day Dinner and Easter Sunday lunch are advertised via our website.

The restaurant, which seats forty, can be used as a function room for private parties, conferences etc. Catering is tailor made for each event.
