Birch Cottage is set amidst spectacular mountain scenery and is ideally situated for walking, hill-climbing, fishing and touring. Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, and its airport, are only an approximate 30 minute drive away. Both the east and west coast are only an hour away and there are many beautiful places to visit from the comfort of your own car. Alternatively, if you like we can arrange a chauffer and car to run you around whilst you just sit back and relax.
For the more energetic of you, the Fannichs, Ullapool Hills, Torridon, Glen Affric, and the Cairngorm National Park are all just a short drive away. Packed lunches can be provided if you so desire.
Garve station is a stop on the 'Kyle' railway line (this runs from Inverness to the Kyle of Lochalsh), and is a very spectacular rail journey and well worth while (make sure you have plenty of film in your camera!).
Linda and Ray have created a welcoming and comfortable retreat here at Birch Cottage. All rooms are en-suite and are furnished and decorated to a high standard, with central heating, hair dryer, TV and DVD, plus hospitality tray.
What makes Birch Cottage really special, however, is the quality of the food - it is truly outstanding. The breakfast menu is extensive, offering both continental and full Scottish. Dinner, which is chosen from a daily changing menu, is served in the intimate candle-lit dining room which overlooks the charming cottage garden.
Ray personally sources all food locally, selecting the best for quality and freshness. Though we do not have a licence to sell alcohol, guests are encouraged to bring their own beer or wine to enjoy with their meal (with no charge made for corkage).
