Upper Middle Road Farm is located equidistant between Hay on Wye, Brecon and Builth Wells. It is a working 5 acre Smallholding, set at 550 feet above the Wye Valley.
The house is about 200 years old and was once a Wheelwright's cottage. It has been extended and modernised to provide comfortable warm accommodation with central heating and a log fire but still retains some of the exposed oak beams.
There are 2 rooms available for guests - a twin and a double, both en-suite. To the front are panoramic views of the Black Mountains sweeping around to the Brecon Beacons. Although quiet the house is not totally isolated, the village of Boughrood (pronounced Bockrood) is gentle walk of less than one mile away, and Llyswen is across the bridge spanning the River Wye.
It represents an ideal base for general sightseeing of the beautiful Brecon Beacons area. It's also ideal for more active pursuits such as cycling (2 bicycles available to borrow), pony trekking, canoeing on R. Wye as well as interesting and sometimes challenging walks on the mountains or more easily on the local footpaths.
Evening meals can be provided by arrangement and are made using our own produce from the smallholding.
We have an extensive breakfast menu.
