Behind the Massive Blast Doors, the vast Nuclear Bunker extends almost 100ft below ground and covers nearly 35,000 square feet.
Our Award Winning Fully Guided Tour visits 3 Operations Rooms - Engineering and Plant - COMCEN/Radio Room and Telephone Exchange - Dormitories and Offices - Situation and Briefing Rooms - Message Centre - Coding and Computer Rooms - Kitchen and Offocers Mess - Canteen and Hospital - along with our WMD Gallery many other areas, all brought to life with films/shows and demonstrations.
Built in the 1950s as an Early Warning Radar Station - Refurbished in the 1980s as RAF Support Command War HQ - Rebuilt in the 1990s a an Experimental Electronic Warfare operations Centre - there is over 60 years RAF History at Holmpton which is still today a working environment.Tours are fully guided - there are 3 staircases and some quite long walks - Ambulant disabled access is only available at present - Photography is welcome - parents please note that the tour is not suitable for under 5's.Due to the size and layout of the building all tours leave promptly and we are unable to admit latecomers.
