Tullie House is one of Cumbria's leading visitor attractions. Our combination of permanent displays (many of them enjoyably interactive and 'hands on'), changing exhibitions and exciting events and workshops makes Tullie House a thriving centre of activity where there's always something to see or do for visitors of all ages. The main Art Gallery at Tullie House is the best equipped in the north of England and presents exhibitions of the highest quality.

The Border Galleries

These superb displays tell the story of Carlisle, Cumbria and the Borders from prehistory onwards. You can amble down a Roman Street, stand under the stars with the spectacular wildlife and landscapes of Cumbria all around, or sit in an Edwardian railway carriage it's amazing how far you can travel through time and space when its brought so vividly to life. Don't miss our stunning audio-visual show about the Reivers, the marauding family gangs whose terrifying feuds brought chaos and destruction to the Borders for 300 years!

This tranquil part of the museum is a 17th century house, with beautifully preserved original features. Inside the panelled room you'll find our unique collection of Pre-Raphaelite drawings and paintings.
