Lark Hill Place

Many original shop fronts feature in this wonderful recreation of a typical northern street at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, which has been brought to life with authentic sounds. Visit the Blue Lion Pub, marvel at the pills and potions in the chemists window, compare the home comforts of the Victorian parlour to the workers cottage.

Temporary Exhibitions

Enjoy a varied and lively programme of temporary exhibitions ranging from contemporary art and crafts, archaeology and architecture, to documentary photography and social history.

There's a whole range of hands-on activities for all the family. Try out one of our games or quizzes, or get to grips with some unusual art materials in one of our creative art sessions. There's drama, dance and music too. A full Family Friendly programme runs during school holidays.
