Discover the Underground Treasures of BuxtonPoole's Cavern is a spectacular natural cavern in the heart of Derbyshire's High Peak. Journey back in time through chambers one used as a medieval robbers hideout, Roman shrine and Bronze Age shelter. Discover the largest stalactite and stalagmite in the Peak District and learn how water has eroded this vast series of chambers over millions of years then lined the cavern with incredible calcite crystal formations.
Incredible rocks, minerals and crystals are on display in our rock shop. Taste the Peak in the Cavern café with meals or snacks, cakes and coffee served all day. We also have picnic areas and a play area for little explorers..
Back above ground explore the beautiful country park woodlands and follow the trail to Grin Low Hill and Solomon's Temple viewpoint. The country park woods are perfect for short to medium walks to either just burn off some energy or a restful stroll with panoramic Peakland views and lots of fresh air..or swing through the tree tops on Go Ape high wire adventure course.
A visit to Poole's Cavern is guaranteed to inspire your family and they will be talking about their visit for weeks. Check out our website www.poolescavern.co.uk for events and activities throughout the year.
Our new visitor centre exhibition 'The Hollow Land' with our Roman and prehistoric archaeology on display opens Spring 2009.
