The 18 mile North Yorkshire Moors Railway runs through the beautiful North York Moors National Park, between the market town of Pickering and the village of Grosmont.
With a day rover ticket you can stop to explore the delights of the North York Moors. By breaking your journey you can explore Pickering, Levisham, Goatland (Aidensfield in TV's 'Heartbeat' series) and Grosmont Stations and also take one of the many splendid walks across moorland and through wooded valleys.
Pickering Station has recently been restored to its 1937 condition with help from the Heritage
Lottery Fund. Original features and fitting have been installed in the Booking & Parcels Office, as well in the Tea Room.
Levisham Station is set in the scenic Newton Dale Valley. This stop is the ideal location for walking with a wide variety of wildlife and flowers within a short distance of the station.
Newton Dale Halt is a walkers request stop. Excellent walks and beautiful scenery.
Goatland Station has been made famous as 'Aidensfield' in the YTV series 'Heartbeat'. The station has a newly refurbished Warehouse Tea Room, with authentic furniture and
artefacts. Recent additions have included coal drops and a cattle dock.
Grosmont Station is the terminus for the NYMR and houses our locomotive sheds. The station has been restored to the British Railways' style of the 1960s.
On many days during the year NYMR services now operate all the way to the historic port of Whitby giving you the opportunity to combine the Moors and Coast in one great day out.
