The Museum is undergoing major restoration work and is closed to the public until Spring 2007. The Park will remain open to visitors, as will the Tea Room.
The Museum opened in 1967, and its displays illustrate the changing home, work and social life of people and communities across the region over the last 250 years. Victorian childhood, farm labourers, local miners and domestic service are
some of the many themes for you to explore.
There is a regular programme of seasonal events and other activities throughout the year as well as a series of temporary exhibitions.
Be sure to visit the new Hall Tea Room, which provides home baking and high quality refreshments.
