The Herbert is undergoing a major redevelopment, the first phase of which was completed in 2005 and is now open to the public. The next phase is underway and will be completed in 2008.

From 2008 The Herbert will have a wide range of galleries and exhibitions to excite visitors:

  • The Elements gallery will be a multi-sensory experience featuring a selection of the amazing shells, minerals and fossils in The Herbert's collections.
  • The Peace & Reconciliation Gallery will explore themes around peace and conflict, highlighting incredible stories of reconciliation alongside horrific experiences of conflict.
  • Explore the history of Coventry in the History Gallery, and discover what it was really like to live in Medieval, Victorian or 20th Century Coventry.
  • Take a closer look at the truth behind the legend in Discover Godiva, a gallery that provides a hands-on voyage of discovery for children and adults alike.
