The museum holds collections of local history and features displays about local industry, personalities and events as well as a display of the Symington collection of corsetry.

There is a good local photographic and historical archive.

There is an active programme of school holiday activities, temporary exhibitions and special events.

Groups can be accomodated if booked in advance.

Monday to Saturday 10.00am - 4.30pm, Sun 2.00pm - 5.00pm.
Open most Bank Holidays 10.00am - 4.30pm.
Closed Good Friday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day and last full week in January.
Disabled access via lift in Council Offices. (on Sat,Sun and Bank Holidays please contact museum staff)
