The Dorothy Clive Garden is intimate and informal. It embraces a variety of landscape features, including a superb woodland garden, an alpine scree, a damp garden and spectacular summer flower borders. The plant enthusiast will find many unusual species while the more general garden visitor will discover the great variety of form and colour and the fine views of the Staffordshire and Shropshire countryside. The season begins with spring bulbs and flowering trees and shrubs and, as the magnificent display of rhododendrons and azaleas fades and spring turns to summer, the quarry garden develops into a green oasis with the spectacular waterfall as its centrepiece. Shrub roses are at their best in June, when the striking display of herbaceous flowers begins - a display that continues into the autumn, when hips, berries and spectacular tints bring the season to its dramatic finale. Visitors can rest on the many garden seats provided throughout the grounds and enjoy the tea-room's home-baking on the terrace lawn, while taking pleasure from the lovely views of the Staffordshire and Shropshire countryside.
