Chester Zoo is the UK's number one charity zoo! With 7000 animals and over 400 species, Chester Zoo is an exciting, fun day out for all ages.
Visit our new spectacular Elephants of the Asian Forest breeding centre including our two baby elephants who have become great playmates and are a joy to watch - splashing,
digging and exploring their new surroundings. Gaze on at the beautiful yet rarely seen Okapi in The Secret World of the Okapi. Experience Café Tsavo and dine with a backdrop of Black Rhinos, mongooses and Warthog. Experience Spirit of the Jaguar and Miniature Monkeys. The zoo is open all year round from 10.00am except Christmas and Boxing Day.Last admission times vary with the seasons - from 3:30pm in mid-Winter to 5:30 in high Summer. Please telephone the Zoo for further details. The Zoo closes 1.5 hours after the last admission (1 hour in December/January). |

Carers of disabled visitors receive free entry on a 1:1 basis * As a Registered Charity, Chester Zoo relies upon the generosity of its visitors to support conservation work. The prices marked with an asterix * represent a donation to our conservation work and are 10% more than the normal prices. By Car: From Merseyside. Old (Birkenhead) Tunnel and A41 OR New (Wallasey) Tunnel and M53 to Junction 10, and follow zoo brown signs onto A5117. At busy times J12 from the M53 (signed Chester) may be better - pick up zoo brown signs from the roundabout onto the A41. From North Wales - A55 Expressway eastbound (briefly M53) and follow Zoo signs at J12. From the East - M62 Westbound, M6 Southbound, M56 Westbound, exit Junction 14 signed zoo and then brown zoo signs onto A5117 OR stay on M56, J15 to M53 and exit J12 signed Chester, and then follow brown zoo signs onto A41. From North or South: Use M56/M6 as above. Approximately 40 minutes from Liverpool or Rhyl, 50 minutes from Manchester 60 minutes from Stoke. By Rail and Bus: From North Western, Virgin or Regional Railways Central trains to Chester Station, take Chester City bus route 15 or other buses or taxi to Town Hall Bus Exchange. Monday-Saturday there is a quarter hourly Crosville service with route 40A, (half hourly) to Zoo main entrance and route 40 (half hourly) to pedestrian entrance in Caughall Road. Sundays and Bank holidays ONLY Wirral Peninsula route 11C/12C (09 and 39 mins past hour) links Bus Exchange to Zoo main entrance. This route links Liverpool Albert Dock to Chester, calling at the Zoo both ways. Crosville route 4 (Mondays-Saturdays except Bank Holidays) links Great Sutton to Chester via Ellesmere Port, Cheshire Oaks (Sainsbury's and Outlet Village) and Zoo main entrance. On Merseyrail, travel to Bache, with Crosville bus links. All Merseyrail manned stations sell a combined train/bus/zoo admission ticket for travel from 9.30 am Monday - Friday and all day Saturday with 40/40A Crosville bus links Monday - Saturday, via Bache station and bus stop in Mill Lane. Ask for leaflet when you buy your ticket. |
